The GS Paper 3 i.e. IAS Mains Paper 4 is one of the mandatory papers in the IAS (UPSC CSE) Mains exam. There are 4 General Studies Papers in UPSC IAS Mains exam. The GS Paper 3 consists of 6 subjects such as Economic Development, Agriculture, Science and Technology, Environment and Ecology, Security and Disaster Management.

Structure for UPSC IAS General Studies Paper III

• The UPSC General Studies Paper 3 has two sections in total.
• Both sections have an equal number of questions.

• The total number of questions is 20. There are 10 questions in each section.
• Marking of the total paper is 250. The first section will have 10 marks for each question while the second section will carry 15 marks each.

• For the first section, the word limit is 150 words per answer while for the second section, the word limit is 250 words.
