BPSC TGT is the Class 9 to 10 teacher recruitment test conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission under its Teacher Recruitment Examination cycles. Three TGT papers exist so far, from TRE 1.0 and TRE 2.0 in 2023 and TRE 3.0 in 2024, and all of them is held on the same 150 question structure. Candidates preparing for BPSC TRE 4.0, scheduled from September 22 to 27 2026, can download every paper with its answer key below.
Every TGT paper is split into three parts, with Part I acting as qualifying only. Merit is built from Part II and Part III scores, which is why the Concerned Subject section decides selection.
| Part | Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part I | Language (English, Hindi, Urdu or Bengali) | 30 | 30 |
| Part II | General Studies | 40 | 40 |
| Part III | Concerned Subject | 80 | 80 |
| Total | Three parts combined | 150 | 150 |
• Total duration is 2 hours 30 minutes for the full paper, each question carrying 1 mark.
• No marks are deducted for a wrong answer in any TRE cycle so far.
• Part I Language is qualifying with a minimum 30 percent requirement, and its marks are used only as a tie breaker in the final merit.
• From TRE 3.0 onwards, BPSC added a fifth option E for questions a candidate does not want to attempt, carrying 0 marks, while a blank OMR bubble is treated as wrong.
• Concerned Subject questions are set from NCERT Class 9 to 10 textbooks, with a small share of graduation level questions in language and science subjects.
The list below is drawn from questions that actually appeared in the TRE 1.0, TRE 2.0, and TRE 3.0 TGT papers, not from the full syllabus. These areas carried the highest question count.
| Section | High Weightage Topics |
|---|---|
| Language | Reading comprehension, error spotting, active and passive voice, one word substitution, synonyms and antonyms, Hindi vyakaran covering sandhi and samas |
| General Studies | Bihar role in the freedom movement, Champaran Satyagraha, Preamble and Constitution basics, Ganga basin and Bihar geography, elementary Mathematics and reasoning, Class 10 level General Science, current affairs |
| Mathematics | Real numbers, polynomials, pair of linear equations, quadratic equations, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, mensuration, statistics and probability |
| Science | Light reflection and refraction, human eye and its defects, electricity, magnetic effects of current, chemical reactions, acids bases and salts, carbon compounds, periodic classification, life processes, heredity |
| Social Science | Nationalism in India, rise of nationalism in Europe, making of a global world, resources and development, water resources, federalism, sectors of the Indian economy, money and credit |
| Hindi | Kshitij Bhag 2, Kritika Bhag 2, ras, alankar, chhand, Kabir ke dohe, Premchand ki kahani |
| English | First Flight prose and poetry, Footprints without Feet, tenses, literary devices, editing tasks, composition |
| Sanskrit, Urdu and Persian | Shemushi and prescribed Class 9 to 10 prose and poetry, sandhi, samas, karak, dhatu roop, shabd roop, translation and unseen passage comprehension |
Since the Concerned Subject section is NCERT driven, textbooks matter more than thick guidebooks here. Pair the core texts below with solved TGT papers.
• NCERT Class 9 and 10 textbooks for the chosen subject, read cover to cover, as they supply the bulk of Part III questions.
• Bihar Board Class 9 and 10 books for Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu, since prescribed chapters differ slightly from NCERT.
• Lucent General Knowledge along with a Bihar specific GK book for the state questions in Part II.
• A standard objective General Science and elementary Mathematics book for the General Studies section.
• A monthly current affairs compilation focused on Bihar schemes and appointments.
A scoring strategy for TGT rests on protecting Part III marks first, because those 80 marks carry the widest scoring gap between candidates. Language is only a gate, not a scoring section.
• Finish the Concerned Subject NCERT chapters first, then move to General Studies, and revise Language last.
• Solve one full TGT paper every week under a strict 2 hours 30 minutes timer with an OMR sheet.
• Attempt Part III before Part I in the actual exam, so fatigue does not eat into the merit carrying section.
• Maintain a running note of Bihar current affairs, since these questions were called predictable by test takers in every cycle.
• Use option E deliberately rather than habitually, because a genuinely calculated guess still carries no penalty.
BPSC TGT previous year papers remain the most reliable practice resource for the next Bihar teacher recruitment cycle. Solving TRE 1.0, TRE 2.0 and TRE 3.0 subject wise, revising the high weightage chapters listed above and tracking Bihar current affairs together build a realistic scoring plan for TRE 4.0.

Ques: Are BPSC TGT question papers available in Hindi as well as English?
Ans: Yes. BPSC sets the paper bilingually, so every question appears in both Hindi and English except in the language specific subject papers such as Urdu, Bengali, Sanskrit, Arabic and Persian.
Ques: Why was the TRE 3.0 TGT exam held in July 2024 instead of March?
Ans: The original March 15 and 16, 2024 exam was cancelled after a question paper leak. BPSC held the Class 9 to 10 paper again on July 21, 2024.
Ques: Does BPSC issue a printed hard copy of the TGT answer key?
Ans: No. Answer keys are published only as PDFs on bpsc.bih.nic.in, first as a provisional key with an objection window and later as a final key. Candidates print their own copy if needed.
Ques: Is solving TGT papers useful for Class 11 to 12 aspirants too?
Ans: Partly. Language and General Studies are common in structure, but the Concerned Subject paper is pitched at NCERT Class 9 to 10 level and will feel easier than the senior secondary paper.
Ques: How many attempts are considered a good score in a TGT paper?
Ans: Test takers reported good attempts of roughly 120 to 125 out of 150 with close to 80 percent accuracy in the 2024 paper, which is the toughest cycle so far.
