Clearing the correct Teacher Eligibility Test is compulsory and sits apart from the academic qualification above, so a candidate needs both to qualify.

A candidate who is yet to clear STET 2026 may still apply, provided they clear it before the Preliminary Test for their post and submit a self-declaration form with a copy of their STET 2026 application at the time of applying.
BPSC TRE 4.0 Nationality Criteria
A candidate must be a citizen of India to apply for any BPSC TRE 4.0 post. Bihar domicile is not compulsory for the application itself, so candidates from other states may apply. Domicile still matters for two things: the reservation categories BPSC applies under Bihar government rules, and the 35% horizontal reservation set aside for women domiciled in Bihar.
BPSC TRE 4.0 Number of Attempts
