BPSC PGT is the Class 11 to 12 teacher recruitment test conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission under its Teacher Recruitment Examination cycles. Three PGT papers exist so far, from TRE 1.0 and TRE 2.0 in 2023 and TRE 3.0 in 2024, on the same 150 question, three part structure.

BPSC PGT Exam Pattern
BPSC PGT paper is split into three parts, with Part I acting as qualifying only. Merit is built from Part II and Part III scores, and Part III alone carries more than half the total marks.

• Total duration is 2 hours 30 minutes for the full paper, each question carrying 1 mark, with no penalty for a wrong answer.
• Part I Language is qualifying with a minimum 30 percent requirement, and its marks are used only as a tie breaker in the final merit.
• Part III Concerned Subject is set at postgraduate depth rather than NCERT level, so PG level reference books matter here.
• Candidates select one Concerned Subject at the time of application and are not allowed to change it later in the cycle.
• From TRE 3.0 onwards, BPSC added a fifth option E for a question a candidate does not want to attempt, carrying 0 marks, while a blank OMR bubble is treated as wrong.

BPSC PGT Paper Review
Difficulty climbed steadily across the three cycles, with the Concerned Subject section turning noticeably more analytical from TRE 2.0 onwards.

• Part I Language stayed easy to moderate across all three cycles, and most candidates cleared the 30 percent bar comfortably.
• TRE 1.0 Concerned Subject questions were mostly direct and NCERT linked, while TRE 2.0 and TRE 3.0 leaned analytical and PG level.
• Time management stayed the biggest challenge, particularly in Mathematics, Physics and Accountancy, where accuracy hovered around 75 to 80 percent.
Best Books for BPSC PGT Preparation
Because Part III is set at postgraduate depth, NCERT alone is not enough. Pair it with standard reference books used in earlier cycles.

BPSC PGT Recommended Attempt Strategy
These pointers are drawn from how TRE 1.0, TRE 2.0 and TRE 3.0 actually played out.
• Clear the qualifying bar in Part I Language first, then put most preparation time behind Part II and Part III since merit is decided by these two sections alone.
• Aim for 65 or more out of 80 in Concerned Subject, the single biggest scoring lever and the section where PG level candidates hold the strongest edge.
• Cover the Class 11 to 12 NCERT of the chosen subject fully before moving to postgraduate reference books, since direct NCERT questions still appear every cycle.
• Practise Bihar specific static GK and the last 8 months of current affairs, since Part II reliably carries 7 to 9 Bihar focused questions.
• Attempt Concerned Subject first when the paper starts, since it carries the highest marks and needs a fresh mind for analytical questions.
BPSC PGT previous year papers remain the most reliable practice set for the next Bihar senior secondary teacher cycle. Solving TRE 1.0, TRE 2.0 and TRE 3.0 subject wise and pairing Class 11 to 12 NCERT with postgraduate reference books is the most direct way to convert practice into marks.

Ques: How many subjects does BPSC PGT cover across its cycles?
Ans: TRE 1.0 covered more than 30 subjects across languages, sciences, humanities and commerce. TRE 2.0 and TRE 3.0 covered a slightly smaller set based on district wise school requirements.
Ques: Is BPSC PGT syllabus based on NCERT or postgraduate books?
Ans: General Studies stays at graduation level, while Concerned Subject is set at postgraduate depth, so NCERT forms the base and PG level books cover analytical questions.
Ques: Were BPSC PGT TRE 1.0 candidates automatically considered for TRE 2.0?
Ans: No. Each TRE cycle runs under a separate advertisement number. Candidates had to submit a fresh application and pay the fee again for every new cycle.
Ques: Why was BPSC PGT 2024 exam held in July instead of March?
Ans: The original March 2024 paper was cancelled after a question paper leak. BPSC held the Class 11 to 12 paper again on July 22, 2024, split across a morning and an afternoon shift.
Ques: Can BPSC PGT previous year papers help with STET or CTET preparation?
Ans: Partially. Language and General Studies overlap with STET Paper 2, but Concerned Subject sits at a higher difficulty level and suits only concept revision.
