The Exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for lectureship, ensuring quality teaching standards in higher education. It follows the UGC NET pattern and consists of two papers covering general aptitude and subject-specific knowledge. Applicants must hold a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) to be eligible.
NTA administers State Level Eligibility Test on behalf of UGC to determine your eligibility to be appointed as a professor in college and university. SLET Exam or State Level Eligibility Test is conducted on State Level by many States. SLET Exam in northeastern states Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Tripura is conducted by a separate agency by North East State Level Eligibility Test or NESLET) to assess your eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor for higher education.
The Exam is divided into two parts. An assessment of General Aptitude will be made through one common test (Paper-I). Afterwards, the next papers, which are again divided into two groups are subject-specific assessments.
