Karnataka State Eligibility Test Center under the University of Mysore conducts the Karnataka State Eligibility Test popularly known as KSET. The date of examination has further been postponed due to the outbreak of the current pandemic.

  • The purpose of the examination is to shortlist aspirants for the post of lectureship/Assistant Professor in the state of Karnataka.
  • The state-level falls in June every year with no delay (except 2020).
  • Candidates who fail to who apply for the examination on or before the mentioned last date must pay a penalty amount of Rs. 250/-
  • The selection process of candidates is done through an examination that consists of two papers.
  • Candidates who successfully crack the examination become eligible for posts of lecturers and assistant professors in several universities or colleges across the state.

KSET Eligibility

KSET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates desiring to appear for the examination must fulfill more than just one quality.

  • Educational qualification (in the subjects opted for KSE examination).
    • Candidates who belong to the general category appearing for the examination must have secured a minimum score of 55% in masters or equivalent exam from universities recognized by UGC, New Delhi.
    • Candidates who belong to any reserved category looking for the test must have achieved a minimum score of 50% in masters or equivalent exam from universities recognized by UGC, New Delhi.
  • Candidates who appeared or waiting to look for their final exam can also apply for KSET.
    • Such candidates who crack the examination shall be provided with provisional certificates.
    • Although, such candidates will have to pass the exam of masters or any equivalent exam with the minimum eligibility score to continue with further processes.
  • Candidates holding a Ph.D. who completed their master's degree and held a certificate issued before or on 19th September 1991 shall get a total of 5% relaxation during the KSET examination.
  • Candidates who belong to any reserved categories such as SC/ST/PWD will have to provide all the required documents/certificates that were issued on or before 01 July 2015, proving with their statement.
  • All candidates appearing for the examination must submit scanned copies of documents or certificates such as post-graduate degree scorecards with no backlogs, TX Marks card, category certificates, and certificates related to PWD (VH/PH) if applicable along with their application form during the process of filling.

  • Economics:
    • Candidates desire to appear in the KSET 2020 exam with proper qualificationsPh.D..
    • A candidate appearing for the examination must hold a master's degree in Economics / Co-operation and other related subjects.
    • Candidates waiting for their final examination or waiting for the declaration of results of studies in masters in Economics / Co-operation and other related subjects can also appear.
  • Management:
    • A candidate appearing for the examination must hold a master's degree/ PG diploma in management or other management related to management studies.
    • Candidates waiting for their final examination or waiting for the declaration of results of studies in masters in management studies/PG diploma can also appear for the exam.
  • Folklore:
    • A candidate appearing for the examination must hold a master's degree in Folklore, Kannada, Janapada, Kannada Janapada, Janapada Sahitya, and other related subjects.
    • Candidates waiting for their final examination or waiting for the declaration of results of studies in masters in Folklore, Kannada, Janapada, Kannada Janapada, Janapada Sahitya, and other related subjects can also appear for the examination.
  • Physical Sciences:
    • A candidate appearing for the examination must hold a master's degree in the following subject:

Exemptions of the KSET 2020 Examination

Few of every candidate gets to be freed or exempted from taking the exam. Such candidates shall fit in any of the following criteria,

  • Candidates with PhD degrees under the regulation of UGC 2009 shall get exempted/freed from taking up the examination to be offered jobs of lecturers/assistant professors in any university, college or institution across the state of Karnataka.
  • The board also exempts candidates who passed UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination before 1989, from taking up the test.
KSET Application Process

KSET 2020: Application Process

  • Karnataka state eligibility test Center, University of Mysore has released the newly updated KSET form for the year 2020 by COVID-19 in the country.
  • Before starting the application filling process, candidates have to cross-check the availability of scanned images of their recent passport-sized photograph and permanent signature and also should make sure that he/she meets all the eligibility criteria.
  • The University of Mysore conducting the examination prefers only the online mode of application filling.

Step by step process of filling online application form of KSET 2020

Candidates aspiring to take up the exam but in confusion about the process of filling can follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Enter/type the official link of the Karnataka state eligibility test center http://kset.uni-mysore.ac.in

Step 2: Check the top right corner shown on your screen on the homepage of the official website.

Step 3: You shall find a tab/button that reads 'apply online'.

Step 4: Give a thorough read of the earliest notification made by the board.

Step 5: Download the official notification

Step 6: Click on the button/tab that reads 'sign up for registration.

Step 7: Type in a valid email ID of yours, set yourself a password, enter your name, gender, date of birth.

Step 8: Click on the button that reads 'register'.

Step 9: Now, you are done with the registration process.

Step 10: Move to the online application filling.

Step 11: Enter your details, educational details, KSET registration details.

Step 12: Upload the neatly scanned passport-sized photograph and permanent signature.

Step 13: Select the mode of payment that is more reliable to you.

Step 14: Click on the button that reads 'submit'.

Step 15: Download and take a printout of application form for future references.

Note:

  • Candidates who desire to appear for the examination must mention their educational qualifications of PG courses (passed or appearing).
  • Candidates who belong to reserved categories must provide the scanned images of their certificates too.
  • Application fee submitted by any other mode such as Money Order/Demand draft /IPO etc., will not be accepted.
  • Applicants failing to apply before or on the last date can apply within an extended time by paying the penalty of Rs. 250/-.

KSET 2020 Admit card

  • Admit cards are a must to be carried by candidates to the examination hall at the time exam.
  • Admit cards are recruited to candidates by the exam conducting board just a few weeks before the examination.
  • It shall contain the candidate's information such as personal details, specified roll number, subject of the examination, examination centre and code of the centre.
  • All the candidates desiring to appear for the examination must carry a print out of the admit card and a passport-sized photograph if the candidate.
  • Candidates without admitting shall be restricted from entering the examination hall.
