USET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must confirm that they meet the qualifying requirements listed below before submitting their application.

USET 2026 Educational Qualifications:

  • The applicants must hold a Master's degree that has been approved by U.G.C. If you have a postgraduate certificate or diploma from an Indian university or institution, or a foreign diploma, degree, or certificate from any foreign university or institution, you should, for your own benefit, confirm that it is equivalent to a master's degree from a reputable Indian university with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
  • Candidates who earned a Master's degree or an equivalent from a university or institution recognised by the UGC and the State Government with at least 55% of the total possible points (without rounding off) are eligible to apply for this test. Candidates from the OBC (ST/Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and PWD (Persons with Disability) categories must have earned a minimum of 50% in their Master's degree or an equivalent to qualify for this test.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. and whose Master level exam was completed by September 19, 1991 (regardless of the date of result announcement) are eligible for a 5% total mark relaxation (down from 55% to 50%) in order to take the U-SET.
  • Candidates for this test may also have taken, been taking, or have already passed their qualifying master's degree (Final Year) exams. Candidates whose qualifying exams have already been held may also apply. However, these candidates will only be considered for the position of Assistant Professor after they have successfully completed their Master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks (or 50% in the case of candidates who fall under the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), ST, PWD (Persons with Disabilities), or SC categories).
  • Such applicants must successfully complete their P.G. degree exam within two years of USET result date with the required percentage of marks; if they do not, they will be deemed ineligible. If an applicant passes USET exam, they will receive a certificate after passing their master's degree exam or an equivalent exam with at least a 55% grade (or a 50% grade for ST/PH/SC/VH/OBC Non-Creamy Category applicants) and turning in their P.G. mark sheet within two years of the date the U-SET exam results were communicated.

USET 2026 Age limit:

There is no maximum age for USER applications. Candidates who identify as SC, ST, PWD, or OBC (Non Creamy Layer) must ensure they have an attested copy of their category certificate and, in the case of OBC, the most recent valid non creamy layer certificate (not older than one year). The certificate must be issued solely in the candidate's name.

If candidates fail to present a valid category certificate and the most recent non-creamy layer certificate (in the case of OBC) made available by Uttarakhand government in support of their request for a mark- or fee-relief, their eligibility would be deemed general category.
