APSET 2020 Important dates

It is nearly time for the release of the official notification of APSET Exam 2020. Last year the official notification was released on 20th July and applications were invited from 5th August to 11th September. The APSET exam was held on 20th October. Check the tentative APSET 2020 exam dates tabulated below.

APSET Eligibility Criteria

APSET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  1. Candidates are eligible for this test if they have secured at least 55% (without rounding off) in their postgraduate degree from a UGC recognized University or Institute. Reserved category candidates (SC/ST, BC and PwD) will have to secure at least 50% in Master’s degree or its equivalent examination.
  2. Candidates in the final year of Master’s degree, awaiting their results may also apply for this exam. However, they shall be considered eligible only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination with the required percentage of marks. Such candidates must complete their degree within two years from the date of APSET, otherwise will be treated as disqualified.
  3. Aspirants, who possess Ph. D degrees and have completed their Master’s degree by 19th September 1991, shall be allowed for a relaxation of 5% on aggregate marks obtained in Master’s (i.e. 55% will be 50%).
  4. It is advised that candidates apply for the subject of their Post-graduation only. For candidates whose postgraduate subject is not covered in the list of APSET, may appear in a related subject they have knowledge about.
  5. It is important to check the equivalence of PG Diploma or Certificate from Indian or foreign University with that of a Master’s degree of accredited Indian University from Association of Indian University (AIU), New Delhi.
  6. There is no upper age limit for applying for APSET.
  7. Candidates who have qualified earlier in APSET or UGC-NET cannot apply in the same subject they had qualified for.
APSET Exam Pattern

APSET 2020 Exam Pattern

There are two papers that are to be attempted by the applicants. The exam is usually held on the same day in two segments. Paper I is for 1 hour and Paper II is a 2 hour paper. Timings shall be specified by the authority.

  • Paper I-General paper: This paper is primarily designed to test the teaching or research aptitude of the candidates. It shall consist of 50 questions, each carrying 2 marks.

  • Paper II-Subject based paper: Questions based on the subject selected by the candidate are asked in this paper. There are 100 questions, each of 2 marks in this section. Enlisted below are the subjects with the corresponding subject code.

  • Medium of question paper: Paper I in APSET will be bilingual, in English and Telugu. Subjects like Commerce, Economics, Education, History, Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology in Paper II will be bilingual; all other subject papers will be in English only.
  • Mode of exam: Both the papers are to be held in offline mode. Candidates will be provided with an Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet to mark their responses along with the test booklet.

Note: There will be no negative marking for any wrong answer.

How to Apply for APSET 2020?

  • The application link will be activated after the official notification has been released. Form is to be filled up online through the official website.
  • Applicants have to register first by entering the required information.
  • On successful registration, user ID and password will be sent to the registered email ID of the candidates, using which candidates will log in and fill up the application form with all relevant details.
  • Preferred exam centers will have to be specified. Furthermore, scanned copies of photographs and signatures will have to be uploaded. The size and dimension will be specified on the website.

Application Fee

Applicants will have to pay the application fee through credit card, debit card, net banking or other payment gateways. The amount will be specified at the time of applying. Application fee in 2019 was as follows,

The list of exam centers for APSET exam 2020 has not been released yet. Usually, there are 6 cities in Andhra Pradesh where exams are held. Candidates have to select their preferred exam city at the time of applying for the test. Exact location is only disclosed on the admit card of the candidate. APSET Admit Card

APSET 2020 Admit Card

Admit cards shall be made available for download or print out only on the APSET website. On providing their registration number and date of birth, candidates can download their admit cards. It will contain all details of exam date, time, exam center, etc.

APSET 2020 Selection Criteria

Appearing candidates have to obtain at least 40% aggregate marks for general category and a minimum of 35% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates; this minimum aggregate mark is to be secured combining two papers. Only on achieving these marks, candidates will be declared qualified for eligibility of Assistant Professor or Lectureship.

The final merit list is published online on the website. Thereafter, candidates are called for document verification.
