Question

\(x^2 - 2x + 3 = 0\) is a ______.

This question was previously asked in
RRB Group D 2019 Question Paper (26-Aug-2022) (Shift 2)
The correct answer is

Quadratic equation

An algebraic expression of degree two set equal to zero is called a quadratic equation. The general form is \(ax^2 + bx + c = 0\) with \(a\neq 0\).

The expression \(x^2 - 2x + 3 = 0\) has highest power \(2\) and an equality sign, so it is a quadratic equation. It would be a quadratic polynomial only without the \(= 0\).

Hence, Quadratic equation is correct.
