Who recommended that only graduates with three years’ experience to be admitted to M.Ed. course ?
Education Commission reports 1964-66
The Education Commission 1964-66 (Kothari Commission) gave detailed recommendations on teacher education, including the improvement of postgraduate teacher education.
To make the M.Ed. a genuine advanced professional course, it recommended that admission be restricted to graduates (B.Ed. holders) who had at least three years' teaching experience, so that the course built on real classroom understanding.
The Chattopadhyaya Committee (1983-85) dealt mainly with the status of teachers and a longer pre-service programme, the Yashpal Committee dealt with curriculum load and higher education reform, and UGC reports did not lay down this experience condition.
Hence, the recommendation came from the Education Commission reports 1964-66.
