Who among the following was the deputy chairman of Planning Commission under the tenth five year plan?
K.C. Pant
The Planning Commission of India was the body responsible for formulating the country's Five Year Plans until it was replaced by NITI Aayog.
The Prime Minister served as its ex-officio chairman, while the actual day-to-day functioning was led by a full-time deputy chairman of Cabinet rank.
The Tenth Five Year Plan covered the period 2002 to 2007, focusing on higher growth and social development targets.
During this plan period, K.C. Pant held the office of deputy chairman of the Planning Commission and steered its work.
Shankarrao Chavan, Yashwant Sinha and P. Shiv Shankar were prominent public figures who held other important offices, but none was the deputy chairman tied to the Tenth Plan.
Matching the office to the plan period therefore points to a single individual.
Hence, the correct answer is K.C. Pant.
