Question

Which one of the following is a bad Thermal Conductor?

This question was previously asked in
SSC CGL 2017 (Tier 1) Previous Year Paper (16-Aug-2017) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

Glass

Metals conduct heat well because their free electrons rapidly transfer thermal energy. Aluminium, Copper and Silver are all metals with high thermal conductivity (Silver ~429, Copper ~401, Aluminium ~205 W/m·K).

Glass, an amorphous non-metal, lacks free electrons and conducts heat only through slow lattice vibrations (~0.8 W/m·K), making it a poor thermal conductor (good insulator). Hence Glass is the bad thermal conductor.
