India's vast coastline and strategic location present several maritime security challenges. These include seaborne terrorism, as tragically witnessed during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, piracy, smuggling of arms and narcotics, illegal fishing by foreign trawlers, and illegal migration. The sheer volume of maritime traffic makes monitoring and securing our sea lanes a complex task.
