This question was previously asked in
CDS 2 2026 Maths Question Paper (13-Sep-2026)
The correct answer is

A triangular bracket in the angle of two walls, connecting the base of the dome to its supporting arches

In Indian architecture, particularly the Indo-Islamic style, a 'pendentive' is a curved triangular bracket formed at the angle where two walls meet, which transfers the weight of a circular dome down onto the supporting arches of a square chamber below. This device made it structurally possible to place a round dome over a square base.
