Question

The same operation(s) are followed in all the given number pairs except one. Find that odd number pair.

(NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into its constituent digits.)

SSC CGL 2024 (Tier-I) Previous Year Paper (17-Sep-2024) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

72 : 12

The pattern involves dividing the first number by a specific divisor to get the second number:
1. In 56 : 9, dividing 56 by 6 gives approximately 9.
2. In 44 : 7, dividing 44 by 6 gives approximately 7.
3. In 68 : 11, dividing 68 by 6 gives approximately 11.
4. In 72 : 12, dividing 72 by 6 gives exactly 12, which is a perfect division.
Since all other pairs follow an approximate division, 72 : 12 is the odd pair out.
