The correct answer is

distil water.

A solar still is a simple device that harnesses solar thermal (heat) energy to perform desalination or purification of water through the natural cycle of evaporation and condensation.
Working principle: Impure, brackish, or saline water is placed in a shallow basin inside the solar still, which is covered with a transparent, sloped cover (usually glass or plastic). Sunlight passes through the cover and heats the water, causing it to evaporate. Since water vapour leaves behind dissolved salts, minerals, and other impurities, the vapour that rises is pure. This vapour then condenses on the cooler underside of the sloped transparent cover and trickles down into a collection channel as pure distilled water.
The other options can be ruled out because: drying grains is done using solar dryers, which simply blow warm air to remove moisture and do not involve distillation; generating electricity is done using solar photovoltaic (PV) panels or solar thermal power plants; and pumping water is done using solar-powered water pumps. None of these involve the evaporation-condensation cycle that characterizes a still.
Therefore, solar stills use solar thermal energy specifically to distil water.
