Preserving the soil fertility
Mannuyir Kaathu Mannuyir Kaappom (literally 'protect soil life to protect all life') is a Tamil Nadu Government scheme announced in the Agriculture Budget 2023-24.
Its central objective is to restore and preserve soil health and fertility, which had declined because of excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
It promotes green manure crops, organic and bio-inputs, vermicompost, soil testing and natural farming practices so that the living organisms in the soil are protected.
Higher yields and better incomes are expected results, but the major aim is protecting the soil.
Hence, Preserving the soil fertility.
