Question

In three of the following pairs are same by same pattern except one pair. Which pair does not follow this pattern?

The correct answer is

50,125

In each valid pair the two numbers are consecutive perfect cubes.

8 = 2³ and 27 = 3³, which are cubes of consecutive numbers 2 and 3.

64 = 4³ and 125 = 5³, cubes of consecutive numbers 4 and 5.

216 = 6³ and 343 = 7³, cubes of consecutive numbers 6 and 7.

In 50, 125: 125 = 5³ but 50 is not a perfect cube, so this pair breaks the rule.

Hence the pair that does not follow the pattern is 50, 125.
