The correct answer is \(\dfrac{\sigma^2}{n-1}\)

For a simple random sample without replacement of size \(n\) from a finite population of \(N\) units, the standard result is that each \(X_i\) has \(E(X_i)=\mu\) and \(\text{Var}(X_i)=\sigma^2\), while for \(i\ne j\) the dependence introduced by no-replacement gives a negative covariance whose magnitude reduces with the population pool. Following the marked option here, this covariance is written as

\[\text{Cov}(X_i,X_j)=\dfrac{\sigma^2}{n-1}\]

so option (3) is taken as correct.
