2. It is positioned at the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point L2.

3. It carries a coronagraph for exoplanet detection.

SSC CGL 2025 Tier 2 Paper 1 Question Paper (19-Jan-2026)
The correct answer is

All 1, 2 and 3

Statement 1 – Correct: JWST is optimised for near-infrared (via NIRCam, NIRSpec, NIRISS) and mid-infrared (via MIRI) observations, allowing it to peer through dust and study the most distant, redshifted galaxies.

Statement 2 – Correct: The telescope orbits the Sun-Earth L2 Lagrange point, about 1.5 million km from Earth. This position keeps the Sun, Earth and Moon on the same side, allowing its sunshield to keep the optics extremely cold.

Statement 3 – Correct: Both NIRCam and MIRI carry coronagraphs that block starlight to enable direct imaging and characterisation of exoplanets near their host stars.

Hence all three statements are correct.
