Amit donated 20% of his income to a school and deposited 20% of the remaining in his bank. If he is having Rs 12800 now, then what is the income (in Rs) of Amit?
20000
Let Amit's income be \(I\).
Step 1 — After the 20% donation: remainder \(=0.80\,I\).
Step 2 — After depositing 20% of the remainder in the bank: what is left \(=0.80\,I\times(1-0.20)=0.80\times0.80\,I=0.64\,I\).
Step 3 — Equate to Rs 12800:
\[0.64\,I=12800\implies I=\frac{12800}{0.64}=20000\]
Therefore Amit's income is Rs 20,000.
