According to the EIU, which country showed the most significant improvement in its business environment over the past 20 years?
Vietnam
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) assesses 82 countries in its Business Environment Rankings. In a 2024 review covering the 20 years from 2003 to 2023, Vietnam recorded the largest improvement in its business-environment score (a rise of about 1.7 points).
The EIU credited Vietnam's free-trade agreements (such as CPTPP and RCEP), its gains from the "China+1" relocation of supply chains, and its investment in infrastructure and human capital.
Serbia and Romania were also named among countries that improved significantly, but less than Vietnam; India was not the top improver.
Hence, the answer is Vietnam.
