Question

A composite wall consists of a rectangle 12 m by 9 m with a triangular window of base 4 m and height 3 m cut out. If the wall needs to be painted at Rs. 120 per sq m, find the painting cost after deducting the window area.

SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 Question Paper (25-Sep-2025) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

Rs. 12,240

Wall area = 12 x 9 = 108 sq m. Window area = half x 4 x 3 = 6 sq m. Paintable area = 108 - 6 = 102 sq m. Cost = 102 x 120 = Rs. 12,240.
