NIACL AO Exam Pattern 2026: Check Prelims & Mains Marking Scheme

NIACL AO Exam Pattern 2026 is categorised into two stages, namely, Prelims and Mains. The Prelims is an objective test of 100 marks covering English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude, to be completed in 60 minutes. The Mains exam has two parts, Objective and Descriptive. The objective part of 200 marks covers Reasoning, English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Domain-specific knowledge (only for Specialist posts) in 150 minutes. This is followed by a descriptive paper (essay and letter writing) of 30 marks in 30 minutes. In NIACL AO exam 2026, an Interview will be held for Mains-qualified candidates.

NIACL AO Mains Exam Pattern 2026

NIACL AO 2026 Mains Exam is the second stage of selection process, comprising both objective and descriptive tests. Both Generalist and Specialist are evaluated on reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English, and general awareness, while Specialists face an additional professional knowledge section. The descriptive paper tests English writing skills through essay and letter writing. The Mains Exam Pattern is mentioned below:

Candidates at first have to complete their Objective Test to answer the Descriptive Test, which forms the second part of NIACL AO Mains Exam 2026.

NIACL AO Mains Descriptive Test 2026

Candidates are to answer the Descriptive Test immediately after completing the Objective Test, to be held in the same shift. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in each section of the objective test individually to be shortlisted for the Descriptive paper evaluation or the Interview. The Details about the Descriptive test are given below:

• The Descriptive Test in NIACL AO Mains Exam 2026 carries 30 marks in total.
• It includes Essay writing (20 marks) and Letter writing (10 marks) in English only.
• The test duration is 30 minutes and is qualifying in nature.
• The descriptive answer script would be evaluated only for those candidates who qualify for the objective test.

NIACL AO Interview 2026

Candidates who clear NIACL AO Mains 2026 will be called by NIACL to give their Interview. NIACL AO Interview 2026 will assess a candidate’s overall personality, communication skills, confidence, decision-making ability, and suitability for the Administrative Officer role. It also evaluates candidates’ professionalism, clarity of thought, and problem-solving approach, ensuring candidates can handle responsibilities in banking, insurance, and administrative functions effectively.

After the Interview is done, NIACL will compile a final merit list based on the combined scores from the Mains objective test and the Interview. Candidates who rank high enough within the number of available vacancies are offered provisional selection. Those selected must then appear for document verification and a medical fitness test. After this, NIACL will make final appointment.
