UPSC CAPF AC 2026 Paper 1 Overview

The question paper is provided in both English and Hindi. Based on the established UPSC CAPF pattern, Paper 1 contains 125 multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying 2 marks. Candidates must qualify in Paper 1 for their Paper 2 answer sheets to be evaluated.

This section generally covers logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, numerical ability, data interpretation, analogy, series, coding-decoding, directions, percentages, averages, ratios, time and work, profit and loss, and basic statistics.

General Science

Questions assess general scientific awareness rather than highly specialised knowledge. Important areas include basic Physics, Chemistry, Biology, environmental science, biotechnology, information technology, and recent scientific developments.

Current Events

Current affairs questions may be based on national and international events, defence exercises, government schemes, appointments, awards, sports, international organisations, environmental developments, and issues related to internal security.

Indian Polity and Economy

This section includes the Constitution, Parliament, Judiciary, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, constitutional bodies, governance, public administration, economic development, inflation, banking, taxation, budgeting, and major government policies.

History of India

Questions may cover ancient, medieval, and modern Indian history. However, the freedom struggle, social and religious reform movements, important personalities, and the growth of nationalism generally receive greater attention.

Indian and World Geography

This section includes physical, social, and economic geography of India and the world. Candidates should prepare topics such as climate, rivers, soils, agriculture, minerals, industries, population, natural resources, maps, and important geographical phenomena.

UPSC CAPF AC 2026 Paper 1 Question Paper FAQs

Ques. Is there negative marking in the UPSC CAPF AC Paper 1?

Ans. Yes. One-third of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for an incorrect response. Since each question generally carries 2 marks, approximately 0.67 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. There is no penalty for leaving a question unanswered.

Ques. How can candidates calculate their Paper 1 score using the answer key?

Ans. Candidates can use the following formula:

Estimated score = (Number of correct answers × 2) – (Number of incorrect answers × 0.67)
