About NTA and NIFT, the Bodies Behind NIFT 2026

Two organisations share responsibility for NIFT 2026, one running the written exam and the other running everything that follows it.

National Testing Agency conducts the written Stage 1 exam, GAT and CAT, along with the answer key and Stage 1 result, on behalf of NIFT. National Institute of Fashion Technology itself then takes over for the Situation Test, PG interviews, final result, and the entire counselling process across its 20 campuses. NIFT 2026 Situation Test: What Comes After the Written Admit Card

Situation Test asks shortlisted B.Des candidates to build a three dimensional model or arrangement from everyday materials such as paper, clay, straws, and thread, within a fixed time limit at the test venue. It evaluates creativity, material handling, observation, and how well a candidate can present a finished idea, rather than testing knowledge the way the written GAT and CAT sections do. A strong Stage 1 score does not guarantee a strong Situation Test performance, since the two stages assess genuinely different skills, which is part of why NIFT keeps them on separate admit cards rather than combining the result into one document.

NIFT 2026 Admit Card and the Link to Result and Counselling
