CSIR UGC NET 2021 Application Form, Registration Dates, Fees and Process

The CSIR UGC NET June notification will be out at the end of February 2021. To fill the application form, the aspirants will have to open the National Testing Agency (NTA) official website of CSIR UGC NET. It can be predicted that the registration process will be started from the second week of March 2021. The application fees for General is INR 1000, INR 500 for OBC and EWS and INR 250 for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates.

CSIR NET Application Process involves online registration, uploading scanned documents, filling up application form, and payment of application fees. Candidates must possess any one of the following degrees – M.Sc, Integrated BS/ MS, BS- 4 years, B.E, B.Tech, B.Pharma, MBBS with at least 55% marks for General/ OBC and EWS category and 50% for SC/ ST and PwD category. Before applying for the exam, candidates must ensure that they satisfy  CSIR UGC NET Eligibility Criteria.

How to fill CSIR UGC NET 2021 Application Form?

All the eligible candidates can apply for the examination in online mode only.  

Steps to Apply for CSIR UGC NET 2021

Candidates can apply for the exam by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: CSIR NET Online Registration

  • Visit the official website of CSIR UGC NET.
  • Click on the link “Fill Online Application Form” on the homepage of the website.
  • Enter your name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, parents name and contact address.
  • A registration number and password will be sent on your mobile number and email ID.

Step 2: Upload Photograph and Signature

As per the latest official notice released by CSIR, there is no need to upload the documents like Category Certificate, Result awaited attestation form, and other documents while submitting the online application form. However, uploading the scanned copy of the photograph and signature is still mandatory and without that application form will be considered incomplete. Candidates have to upload scanned images of their passport size photograph and signature in prescribed specifications.

Step 3: Fill CSIR NET 2021 Application Form

Candidates need to enter their qualification, preferred exam center, choice of subject and other relevant details in the application form.

Step 4: Pay CSIR NET Application Fee

Candidates applying for the test have to deposit the application fee in online mode using Syndicate/ SBI/ HDFC/ ICICI bank gateway through Debit/ Credit card/ Netbanking/ UPI and Paytm. No offline mode for fee payment is available. The application fee varies as per candidate’s category as stated in the table below:

  • An active email ID
  • A valid mobile number
  • Marksheets of class 10, 12, graduation and post-graduation 
  • Scanned passport size photograph
  • Scanned image of your signature
  • Category/ Disability certificate if applicable
  • Banking details to make the fee payment.

CSIR UGC NET 2021 Eligibility

  • All the aspirants willing to apply for CSIR UGC NET 2021 must be citizens of India.
  • The upper age limit for Junior Research Fellowship is 28 years as on July 1, 2021.
  • There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professorship.
  • Candidates must possess any one of the following degrees – M.Sc, Integrated BS/ MS, BS- 4 years, B.E, B.Tech, B.Pharma, MBBS with at least 55% marks for General/ OBC and EWS category and 50% for SC/ ST and PwD category.
  • Candidates enrolled in the above degrees are also eligible for the exam provided they complete the degree within 2 years.

Form Correction

CSIR UGC NET Form Correction

  • NTA will provide a facility of CSIR NET Application Form Correction soon after the completion of registrations.
  • The application form correction facility can be availed in online mode only at the official website – csirnet.nta.nic.in.
  • NTA also sends email and SMS to candidates regarding form and image correction.
  • Candidates will be able to edit/ modify certain fields such as name, parents’ name, date of birth, contact address, category, gender, etc.
  • Candidates have to upload supporting documents to make the changes and pay the difference fees if any.
  • This will be the last chance to edit and correct the application form. No further requests are entertained.

Steps to Login for CSIR UGC NET 2021 after Forgetting the Password

  • At first, the aspirants have to answer the security question.
  • Provide the verification code, which will be sent to the registered mobile number via text message of the aspirants

Ans. NTA will open the application form correction window soon after the registration process. Candidates will get an opportunity to can edit the application form in this period. 

Ques. Can a candidate apply for both JRF and Assistant Professorship?

Ans. Yes, candidates can apply for either JRF or Assistant Professorship or for both provided they fulfil the eligibility. Candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria of CSIR UGC NET before applying for the exam.

Ques. What documents have to be uploaded during CSIR NET Registration?

Ans. Candidates have to upload scanned images of their passport size photograph and signature.

Ques. What is the age limit to apply for the exam?

Ans. For JRF, the upper age limit is 28 years as on July 1, 2021, however, age relaxation is given to reserved categories. There is no age limit for Assistant Professorship

In its tweet CSIR HRDG has announced that the CSIR NET 2021 exam dates will be announced in mid-April 2021. The exam is expected to be conducted June 2021. Opening of Registration Window will be started from Mid-April 2021.

Hi Arunkarthiheyan, application once registered, cannot be withdrawn. However, you can appear on any of the application number but not on both otherwise, your candidature will get cancelled.

Hi Shilpa, you can follow the general application process as stated above but make sure that you satisfy the age criteria too. Candidates should be maximum 28 years [33 years for SC/ ST/ PwD/ female candidates and 31 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates] as on January 1, 2019 to be eligible to apply for CSIR UGC NET.

Hi Thanveer, it is necessary to be uploaded while filling up the application form failing which, you will be considered as general candidate and will not be able to get any benefits under reservation policies.
