The CGPSC State Service Exam has three phases:
The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission for State Service Exam subsists of two compulsory paper of objective type. The span of the exam is 2 hours each.
First Type Paper: The paper first subsists of General Studies (100 Question, Marks 200 and timing 2 hours). There are 1/3 negative marks for each incorrect answer.
Second Type Paper: The test Paper is an Aptitude Test (100 Questions, Marks 200 and time 2 hours) There also 1/3 negative marks for each wrong answers.

The Mains exam subsists of 7 papers. The nature of the exam will be typical (small/ medium/long) type. Each paper will be of 200 marks and the time of the exam is 3 hours.

The Aspirant (for the personality test) will be chosen based on the merit list depends on the marks obtained in Mains Exam. The Personality test will be of 150 marks. The final merit list of students recommended for the services will be depending on the cumulative numbers of Mains Exam and Personality test.
