Who discovered the 'electron'?
J.J. Thomson
The electron was the first subatomic particle to be discovered.
In 1897, J.J. Thomson studied cathode rays in a discharge tube and showed that they were made of tiny negatively charged particles, much lighter than atoms.
He measured their charge-to-mass ratio, and these particles came to be called electrons; he later proposed the 'plum pudding' model of the atom.
Hence, J.J. Thomson.
