Who among the following is known as the “Father of the Lok Sabha” ?
Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar
The Lok Sabha is the lower house of the Parliament of India, and its proceedings are presided over by the Speaker.
Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar was the first Speaker of the Lok Sabha (1952-1956). Earlier he had presided over the Central Legislative Assembly and the Constituent Assembly (Legislative). He laid down many of the rules, conventions and procedures that still guide the House, and for this reason Jawaharlal Nehru called him the “Father of the Lok Sabha”.
Balram Jakhar and Neelam Sanjiva Reddy were later Speakers, while Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister, not the presiding officer who shaped the House's procedures.
Hence, Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar.
