Certiorari
The writ of certiorari literally means "to be certified". A higher court issues it to a lower court, tribunal or quasi-judicial authority to call up the record of a case and quash an order already passed, on grounds such as want of jurisdiction, excess of jurisdiction or an error of law apparent on the face of the record.
It is therefore corrective rather than preventive. Prohibition, its sibling writ, stops the lower body while proceedings are still pending; certiorari steps in after the order exists and annuls it.
The other writs answer different wrongs. Habeas corpus commands that a detained person be produced before the court so the legality of detention can be tested. Quo warranto asks by what authority a person occupies a public office. Mandamus commands a public authority to perform a public duty it has failed to discharge, rather than setting aside an order.
Hence, the answer is Certiorari.
