Which state of India hosted the 13th Conference of Parties (COP) of the Convention on the conservation of migratory species of wild animals (CMS)?
Gujarat
The correct answer is Gujarat.
It provides a global platform for the conservation and sustainable use of migratory animals and their habitats. Migratory species face numerous threats, including habitat loss, climate change, pollution, and overexploitation. International cooperation, as facilitated by conventions like CMS, is crucial for their survival because these species cross international borders. India is a party to the CMS and plays an active role in the conservation efforts, particularly for migratory birds and marine species that visit the Indian subcontinent and its coastal waters.
