Question

Which one of the following is not a source code metric ?

This question was previously asked in
UGC NET 2014 Paper 1 Question Paper (28-Dec-2014)
The correct answer is

Function point metric

A source code metric is computed by analysing the program text itself, so it can be measured only after the code has been written.

Halstead metrics count operators and operands in the code; complexity metrics such as McCabe's cyclomatic complexity are computed from the code's control-flow graph; length metrics count lines of code or tokens. All three are source code metrics.

Function points are computed from the functional requirements: counts of external inputs, outputs, inquiries, internal logical files and external interface files, adjusted by value adjustment factors. They are independent of the language and of the code, and are usually estimated before coding begins, so the function point metric is not a source code metric.

Hence, the answer is Function point metric.
