National Food for Work Programme
The National Food for Work Programme was launched on 14 November 2004 in the 150 most backward districts of India.
Its aim was to generate additional supplementary wage employment in these districts, with wages paid partly in food grains supplied free of cost to the States, and it was later subsumed in the National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme in 2006.
The other schemes started in different years: Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana in 2001, Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana in 1993 and Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (a self-employment scheme) in 1999.
Hence, National Food for Work Programme.
