Which contemporary chronicler acknowledged that Raziyya Sultan was more capable than her brothers?
Minhaj-us-Siraj
Raziyya Sultan (Razia Sultana) ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1236 to 1240 and was the only woman to sit on the throne of Delhi.
The contemporary historian Minhaj-us-Siraj, in his chronicle Tabaqat-i-Nasiri, personally observed her reign and recorded that she was more capable and worthy than her brothers, though he added that being a woman worked against her in the eyes of the nobles.
Ziauddin Barani wrote his Tarikh-i-Firuz Shahi much later, focusing on the Khalji and Tughlaq sultans, so he was not her contemporary.
Al-Biruni belonged to the earlier Ghaznavid era (11th century) and wrote the Kitab-ul-Hind, well before Razia's time.
Ibn Battuta was a 14th-century Moroccan traveller who visited India under Muhammad bin Tughlaq, again long after Razia.
So the chronicler who acknowledged her ability was Minhaj-us-Siraj.
