The 42nd Amendment Act, 1976 had given Directive Principles primacy over Fundamental Rights, and also curtailed judicial review of laws made to implement certain Directive Principles.
The 44th Amendment Act, 1978, enacted after the Emergency, reversed many of these changes and restored the balance in favour of Fundamental Rights, undoing the earlier subordination of Fundamental Rights to Directive Principles.
The 74th Amendment relates to urban local bodies (municipalities) and the 84th Amendment dealt with freezing of parliamentary seat allocation, so neither concerns this issue.
