"What really matters for success, character, happiness and lifelong achievements is a definite set of emotional skills - your EQ - not just purely cognitive abilities that are measured by conventional IQ tests." Do you agree with this view ? Give reasons in support of your answer.

I strongly agree with the view that emotional intelligence (EQ) is often more crucial than purely cognitive abilities (IQ) for success, character, happiness, and lifelong achievements. While IQ measures analytical and logical reasoning, essential for academic and certain professional tasks, it often falls short in predicting real-world outcomes.

EQ, encompassing self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, motivation, and social skills, is vital for navigating complex human interactions. In professional settings, individuals with high EQ can lead effectively, resolve conflicts, build strong teams, and adapt to change, factors critical for career progression and organizational success beyond technical prowess. Personally, EQ fosters resilience, enables healthy relationships, and helps manage stress, contributing significantly to overall happiness and well-being. A brilliant individual lacking empathy or communication skills might struggle in collaborative environments or personal relationships. Character, too, is profoundly shaped by emotional maturity—the ability to understand and manage one's own and others' emotions guides ethical behavior and personal integrity far more than raw intellect. Therefore, while IQ opens doors, EQ helps you walk through them successfully and meaningfully throughout life.
