Number of applications received and approved by six bank branches (A, B, C, D, E and F) in a year

BranchNumber of Applications - ReceivedNumber of Applications - Approved
A480360
B600480
C720540
D800640
E900720
F1000750

The combined number of applications approved by Branches B and E is what percentage of the total number of applications received by these branches ?

This question was previously asked in
UPSSSC PET 2026 Question Paper (30-Oct-2026) (Shift-2)
The correct answer is

80%

Approved by B and E = \( 480 + 720 = 1200 \)

Received by B and E = \( 600 + 900 = 1500 \)

Percentage = \( \frac{1200}{1500} \times 100 = 80\% \). Check: \( 0.8 \times 1500 = 1200 \).

So four out of every five applications received by these two branches were approved, and the remaining one-fifth (300 applications) were not approved.

Hence, 80%.
