Atoms are the basic units of matter. Their radii typically range from about 0.05 nm (hydrogen) to about 0.27 nm (caesium), which is within the nanometre (< 1 nm) to sub-nanometre range.

Atoms are NOT larger than molecules — molecules are made of two or more bonded atoms. Not all atoms are the same size; size increases down a group and decreases across a period. Atoms are far too small to be seen under an ordinary light microscope, which can resolve only about 200 nm.
