Question

On selling an article for ₹1512, the profit obtained is 11% more than the loss incurred on selling the same article for ₹879. Find the cost price of the article.

This question was previously asked in
RPF SI 2018 Question Paper PDF (10-Jan-2019) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

₹1179

Let the cost price be \(C\); profit = \(1512 - C\) and loss = \(C - 879\).

Profit is 11% more than loss: \(1512 - C = 1.11(C - 879)\).

\(1512 + 975.69 = 2.11C \Rightarrow C = \frac{2487.69}{2.11} = 1179\).

Hence, ₹1179.
