I strongly agree with the view that non-performance of duty by a public servant is indeed a form of corruption, albeit often subtle. Corruption isn't limited to financial illicit gains; it encompasses any act that undermines public interest for personal convenience or neglect. When a public servant deliberately delays files, avoids responsibilities, or simply fails to perform their mandated duties, they are essentially denying citizens their rightful services or justice. This creates an environment of inefficiency and frustration, forcing citizens to resort to illegal means (like bribery) to get things done, or simply abandoning their legitimate requests. A police officer who ignores a complaint, a bureaucrat who sits on a crucial development project file, or a doctor in a public hospital who arrives late, are all manifestations of this 'corruption of inaction'. It eros public trust, perpetuates injustice, and hinders national progress just as much as monetary corruption.
