Uttarakhand is correct.

The Chipko Movement began in 1973 in Chamoli district of the Garhwal Himalaya, then part of Uttar Pradesh and now in Uttarakhand. Villagers, mostly women, hugged trees to stop contractors from felling them.

It was led by figures such as Chandi Prasad Bhatt, Sunderlal Bahuguna and Gaura Devi of Reni village, and it led to a ban on commercial green felling in the Himalayan forests of the region.
