The correct answer is

Balance of current account + Balance of capital account + Statistical discrepancy

The balance of payments records all economic transactions of a country with the rest of the world, grouped mainly into the current account (trade in goods, services/invisibles, income and transfers) and the capital account (foreign investment, loans, banking capital and other capital flows).

The overall balance is obtained by adding the current account balance and the capital account balance, plus the statistical discrepancy (errors and omissions) that arises because data are gathered from different sources. This overall surplus or deficit is what is settled by a change in the foreign exchange reserves of the central bank: \(\text{Overall BOP} = \text{CA} + \text{KA} + \text{Errors and omissions}\).

Exports of goods and invisibles minus imports of goods mixes up the trade and current accounts and leaves out invisible payments and capital flows; adding exports and imports gives total trade turnover, not a balance; and a simple inflow-minus-outflow of foreign exchange is a loose description that ignores the accounting categories and statistical discrepancy used in the formal computation.

So the overall balance of payments equals current account balance plus capital account balance plus statistical discrepancy.

Hence, the answer is Balance of current account + Balance of capital account + Statistical discrepancy.
