The correct answer is

Y is a base and X can not be known with above information

Turmeric (haldi) is a natural acid-base indicator: it remains yellow in neutral and acidic solutions, but turns brick red (reddish-brown) in the presence of a base.

Since solution Y turns the turmeric brick red, Y must be a base.

Solution X keeps the turmeric yellow, but turmeric stays yellow for both acidic and neutral solutions — it does not turn a distinct colour for acids the way it does for bases. So X could be either acidic or neutral, and its exact nature cannot be determined from this test alone.

Hence, the correct conclusion is that Y is a base, while the nature of X cannot be determined from the given information.
