Question

Hari buys a used car and spends ₹3,000 on its repairs. If he sells the car for ₹58,000 and earns a 16% profit, how much did he pay to buy the car?

RRB Group D 2018 Question Paper (11-Oct-2018) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

₹47,000

Total CP (including repair) = SP / (1 + profit%) = 58000 / 1.16 = ₹50,000.

Since repair cost was ₹3,000, the amount paid to purchase = 50,000 − 3,000 = ₹47,000.

Hence, ₹47,000.
