UGC NET 2023 Home Science Question Paper (13-Dec-2023) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

Both Statement I and Statement II are true

Statement I is true: noise, in the communication process, refers to any interference - physical, psychological, semantic or physiological - that disrupts the accurate transmission or reception of a message, and every act of communication, whether verbal or non-verbal, formal or informal, carries some degree of such interference.
Statement II is also true: because noise can arise from many different sources - such as environmental disturbances, language differences, emotional states, or channel problems - it is practically impossible to remove it entirely, but through careful encoding, choosing appropriate channels, feedback, and active listening, its effect can be significantly reduced.
Since both statements correctly describe the universal presence of noise and the practical possibility of only reducing rather than eliminating it, the correct answer is that both Statement I and Statement II are true.
