The ‘Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’ programme is an initiative of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, aimed at building a physical health and fitness profile of every child from Class I to XII in KV schools.
The programme was launched by the then Union HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar on 10 August 2018 from Kochi, Kerala. Under the scheme, physical education teachers record parameters such as height, weight, BMI and stamina in a dedicated Health & Fitness Card for every student.
Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Mysore are prominent education centres but were not the venue of this launch.
