Low resistivity

Resistivity is a property that measures how strongly a material opposes the flow of electric current through it.

Conductors such as copper, silver and aluminium have a large number of free electrons, which allow current to pass easily, so they have very low resistivity.

Materials with high resistivity oppose current flow and act as insulators, so high resistivity does not describe conductors. A truly zero resistivity occurs only in superconductors under special conditions, not in ordinary conductors.

Hence, electrical conductors possess low resistivity.
