If the curved surface area of a cylinder of height 6 cm is 264 cm², then its volume is: (Use π = 22/7)

The correct answer is

924 cm³

Curved surface area of a cylinder = \(2\pi r h\), with h = 6 cm and CSA = 264 cm².

So \(2\times\dfrac{22}{7}\times r\times6=264\).

Solving: \(r=\dfrac{264\times7}{2\times22\times6}=\dfrac{1848}{264}=7\) cm.

Volume = \(\pi r^{2} h=\dfrac{22}{7}\times7^{2}\times6\).

= \(\dfrac{22}{7}\times49\times6=22\times7\times6=924\) cm³.

Hence, the volume of the cylinder is 924 cm³.
