Question

Consider the given statements and decide which conclusions logically follow them.
Statements:
• Some gadgets run on electricity.
• All gadgets are expensive.
Conclusions:
1. Gadgets cannot run without electricity.
2. Expensive gadgets run on electricity.
3. Electricity is required to run expensive gadgets.

This question was previously asked in
RRB Group D 2018 Question Paper (11-Oct-2018) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

Only conclusion 3 follows.

Statement 'some gadgets run on electricity' does not imply all gadgets need electricity — conclusion 1 is wrong.

Conclusion 2 follows: since all gadgets are expensive and some gadgets run on electricity, those are expensive gadgets running on electricity.

Conclusion 3 (electricity required for expensive gadgets) is implied — expensive gadgets that run do need electricity.

Hence, Only conclusion 3 follows..
